Mountain View -- Netscape Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: NSCP) today announced its support
for RosettaNet, a global electronic commerce standards adoption body created to advance IT supply
chain interaction worldwide.
RosettaNet involves key companies in the IT supply chain who have agreed to help define and
adopt standards. As a RosettaNet board member, Netscape will provide its expertise to help define
new standards and to help identify existing ones that should be adopted into the supply chain.
Netscape also plans to promote and implement the agreed upon standards through its own company and
IT supply chain partners.
"The rise of the Internet has revolutionized the way companies do business, enabling them, for
the first time, to automate the entire supply chain," said Daphne Carmeli, vice president of
marketing in the Application Products Division at Netscape. "Netscape applauds the RosettaNet
mission, as Internet commerce standards are critical for enabling this vision of a true digital
economy to become a reality."
"Research points to the economic prosperity achieved with standard setting in any industry,"
said Fade Chehadé, executive director of RosettaNet. "RosettaNet Board Members are at the forefront
of developing standards to create solutions and meet market challenges. We are pleased to have the
strong support of leading companies to assist us in carrying out the stated mission of this
initiative."
