UCC Joins RosettaNet to Help Improve Efficiencies of IT Supply Chain
For Release
June 7, 1998
Dayton -- The Uniform Code Council, Inc. (UCC) today announced its support of RosettaNet, a
global initiative to adopt common business processes created to advance IT supply chain interaction
worldwide. RosettaNet involves key IT industry associations and organizations to enlarge the
support base and constituency of the initiative. As a RosettaNet partner, the UCC is responsible
for synergizing existing projects in order to maintain a single, unified approach to the standards
adoption process, as well as to assist in the permeation of RosettaNet Standards by co-marketing
the initiative to their members.
John McInerney, Director, IT Supply Chain for the UCC states, "There is no question that the
RosettaNet initiative provides the opportunity to truly revolutionize the IT supply chain. Retail
and grocery businesses are shining examples of other industries that today reap the benefits
enabled by technology and the adoption of standards. These results have been made possible by
standardized, automated identification and data capture of product information that is transmitted
electronically between trading partners (most effectively via electronic data interchange). The UCC
is proud to have the opportunity to work with the IT supply chain and believes there are enormous
benefits to be realized. Those companies that are first to fully implement the standards will truly
have a competitive advantage in the supply chain."
"We are very pleased to have secured executive ownership for this endeavor from such key
influencers in the IT supply chain," said Fadi Chehadé, CEO of RosettaNet. "This executive
ownership, which stems from the clear understanding of the need for standards and their ensuing
business impact, is our strongest guarantee that RosettaNet business processes will cross the chasm
for specifications to widespread implementation."
