For Release
June 7, 1998
-- CHS Electronics, company positioning statement, today announced its support of RosettaNet, a
global electronic commerce standards adoption body created to advance IT supply chain interaction
worldwide.
RosettaNet involves key companies in the IT supply chain who have taken responsibility for
helping to define and adopt standards. As a RosettaNet partner, CHS is responsible for providing
its expertise to define new standards and to identify existing ones that should be adopted into the
supply chain. CHS will also be responsible for promoting and implementing the agreed upon standards
through its own company and IT supply chain partners.
"We must look at the needs from the end user perspective. The fundamental lack of Electronic
Commerce Standards within IT industry increases the costs of both the distributors and vendors and
makes life very difficult for the end users. Each one of us has designed unique solutions to many
common issues. The phenomenal growth of Electronic Commerce across the industry makes the
development and implementation of these standards as very urgent."
"We are very pleased to have secured executive ownership for this endeavor from such key
influencers in the IT supply chain," said Fadi Chehadé, executive director of RosettaNet. "This
executive ownership, which stems from the clear understanding of the need for standards and their
ensuing business impact, is our strongest guarantee that RosettaNet standards will cross the chasm
from specifications to widespread implementation."
