Ingram Micro Commits To Global Electronic Commerce Standards
Company to Adopt RosettaNet Standards on Feb. 2, 2000
For Release
June 9, 1999
Santa Ana, CA -- Ingram Micro Inc., the world's leading wholesale distributor of technology
products and services, today announced its endorsement of eConcert, the multipartner implementation
of RosettaNet's electronic commerce standards. RosettaNet is a global, nonprofit organization
dedicated to promoting an industry-wide initiative establishing common worldwide
electronic-business interfaces.
Ingram Micro anticipates endorsement and implementation of global standards by RosettaNet's
scheduled target date of Feb. 2, 2000. In preparation, Ingram Micro has developed an internal
organization, the E-Bridgade, to champion the Partner Interface Process (PIP) developed by
RosettaNet. PIPs will be used to exchange product information between Ingram Micro and its vendor
partners, including standardized technical specification and part numbers.
"Ingram Micro is proud to align with RosettaNet in its mission to advance worldwide technology
supply-chain interaction through eConcert," said Jerre L. Stead, the chairman and chief executive
officer of Ingram Micro. "The new digital economy poses great opportunities for the supply chain
that can only be realized through the use of standards to facilitate the much-needed open exchange
of information."
