pcOrder.com Commits Resources to Support the Continued Development Of RosettaNet Standard IT-Industry Product Dictionaries

For Release May 25, 2000

AUSTIN and SANTA ANA

pcOrder.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: PCOR), a leading provider of business-to-business e-commerce technology and transactive content services for the IT (information technology) industry, and RosettaNet, the global e-business process standards consortium for the IT and EC (electronic components) industries, today announced that pcOrder will provide full-time, on-loan personnel with expertise in content standardization processes to assist in RosettaNet's standards development efforts.

To maintain its momentum of development at Internet speed, RosettaNet relies on its partners to provide full-time, dedicated resources to drive and manage industry collaborative processes across the RosettaNet membership.

pcOrder resources will be dedicated to RosettaNet's ongoing development and maintenance of current IT industry-standard product "dictionaries." RosettaNet dictionaries provide a common business language that links an entire industry's supply chain business processes.

Originally published in June 1999, the structured IT dictionary and catalog hierarchy with product-specific templates is available as an open, non-proprietary standard. The global, cross-industry effort establishes a common foundation for the adoption of XML-based business-to-business integration solutions by both trading partners and online exchanges.

"By creating global industry-wide standards at the product catalog level, we are facilitating communication for buyers and suppliers across multiple data exchanges," said Jennifer Hamilton, CEO, of RosettaNet. "RosettaNet is pleased by pcOrder's commitment to provide additional business-to-business expertise and experience with standardizing content for complex products to help establish open and common processes for all trading partners."

pcOrder joins the growing number of RosettaNet partners who have generously donated resources in such valuable areas as technical architecture, standards development, and implementation support.

"Using RosettaNet standard dictionaries, suppliers will be able to instantly deliver their product data to customers. Exchanges, for example, will be assured of having the most current product data at all times. In addition, all of pcOrder's ContentSource™ customers are guaranteed forward compatibility as this standard evolves," said Christina Jones, president and COO, pcOrder. "As a RosettaNet partner, pcOrder continues to support the establishment of open and scalable standards which will improve data exchange among the business-to-business community."
