Partner Press Release ON Semiconductor Meets 10.10.2000 Rapid Implementation Deadline To Exchange Product Specifications With Trading Partner Via RosettaNet Standards For Release October 10, 2000
REDWOOD SHORES STC (Nasdaq: STCS), a leading global provider of eBusiness Integration (eBI) solutions, today announced that it has successfully implemented a B2B exchange with leading semiconductor supplier, ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ONNN). Providing the ability to exchange electronic component technical specifications with ON Semiconductor's RosettaNet trading partners, the STC e*Xchange eBusiness Integration™ Suite served as the platform for this rapid implementation, and now facilitates the consistent and real-time exchange of broadband and power management component information via the Internet. Historically, design engineers have faced difficulties obtaining accurate and timely comparative product information. While suppliers might offer product information on the Web, users must visit each site separately to request information. This process of aggregating, distributing and storing product specifications is highly inefficient, resulting in unnecessary costs and delays in design cycles. The STC e*Xchange eBI Suite alleviates these problems for ON Semiconductor and its trading partners by enabling the delivery of streamlined product data in real-time via online exchange."Providing our trading partners with real-time access to mission-critical information is an important component to our overall strategy of making it easier to do business with ON Semiconductor," said Bill Kalaf, program manager of RosettaNet integration for ON Semiconductor. "Under tight time constraints, STC successfully delivered a fully-functional online exchange that can reduce the cost of distributing project-critical information to our trading partners, freeing us to work more efficiently and effectively to better meet the needs of our customers." The STC e*Xchange eBI Suite provides customers such as ON Semiconductor with a flexible and rapid means to participate in RosettaNet B2B exchanges. In addition to giving trading partners instant access to critical component data, the e*Xchange eBI suite allows ON Semiconductor to receive and process trading partner queries directly from its back-office systems. This seamless integration between ON Semiconductor and its trading partners reduces the number of errors incurred and the time it takes for distributing time-sensitive information - all while decreasing the overall cost associated with manual processes. "Semiconductor industry members understand it is critical to adopt common industry-wide eBusiness standards in order to streamline the flow of information and operate more efficiently," said Lisa Kost, senior director of Product Marketing for STC. "By using STC's open, flexible product architecture and employing RosettaNet's standards, ON Semiconductor and other industry members will be able to quickly and cost-effectively integrate their customers, suppliers and partners without major enhancements or modifications to existing technology architectures." Jennifer Hamilton, CEO for RosettaNet adds, "With the implementation of RosettaNet standards, companies see first-hand the improvements in operational efficiency and reductions in process times that result from open and common eBusiness processes. And they can pass those benefits on to their customers." About RosettaNet
