RosettaNet Press Release
Micron Technology Achieves RosettaNet Milestones

Micron Partners with Lucent Technologies and SAQQARA Systems to Promote Technical Information Exchange Across the Internet

For Release October 10, 2000

BOISE

Micron Technology, a worldwide leader in memory products, today announced that it has successfully achieved its 10/10/2000 milestones as part of its commitment as a board member of the RosettaNet eBusiness Standards body.

Micron worked with RosettaNet to define the B2B XML standards used to describe memory products across the Internet. It also integrated its enterprise resource planning systems to use RosettaNet's GTIN product numbering standard, which provides a global product identifier number for all of Micron's products across its supply chain. It is these kinds of achievements that led Information Week to list Micron Technology as an industry leader in technological strategy, e-business strategy, and business practices.

A year ago, Micron joined RosettaNet to help advance the use of open e-business standards in the industry. Since then, Micron has embraced RosettaNet as a way to enhance communication among engineers, buyers, and sellers, as well as to achieve time and cost savings in conducting business transactions. "Micron has a commitment to open standards that will bring efficient communication across our supply chain" said Andy Micone, RosettaNet Program Manager for Micron. "RosettaNet is the cornerstone of that commitment."

Micron and SAQQARA Systems joined with Lucent Technologies to promote the exchange of technical information across the Internet using RosettaNet standards. Lucent and Micron now exchange technical information on Micron's products across the Internet using technology from SAQQARA. This allows Lucent to integrate their engineering and back-office business systems with Micron's product information directly from Micron's back-office systems. "This integration with Lucent allows their design engineers to quickly locate the memory technology they need for their projects and insures that the information they use when they purchase our products is timely and accurate," added Micone. "This achievement is a recognition of the work that RosettaNet has done, as well as the cooperation of suppliers and customers."

As Micron continues to integrate Internet technology into its core strategy, open e-commerce standards like RosettaNet have become increasingly important. In meeting its milestones, and working with other pioneers like Lucent, Micron Technology shows its commitment to technologies that align suppliers and customers more closely. "Clear communication with our partners is the first step in achieving the promise of eBusiness technologies," said Micone, "in meeting our goals for 10/10/2000 with companies like Lucent, we hope to provide leadership by example of what can be achieved with open standards like RosettaNet."

Micron Technology, Inc., and its subsidiaries manufacture and market DRAMs, very fast SRAMs, Flash, other semiconductor components, memory modules, and personal computer systems.
