Electron Economy Integrates RosettaNet's Standards Into InternetTONE

Leading Supply Chain Industry Standards Built Into Open, Intelligent Commerce-Enabling Infrastructure

For Release October 10, 2000

CUPERTINO

Electron Economy™ today announced that RosettaNet's e-business standards will be integrated into the company's technology infrastructure offering, InternetTONE™. Building RosettaNet's standards into InternetTONE will ensure that the open and extensible infrastructure is immediately compatible with RosettaNet partners -- helping build widespread adoption of Electron Economy's supply chain solution.

"RosettaNet perfectly complements Electron Economy's vision of integrating all participants in the supply chain into a single commerce flow," said Michael Abbott, chief technology officer of Electron Economy. "The combination of InternetTONE and RosettaNet's open standards will improve customers' operational efficiency and reduce process times, leading to time and cost savings in the supply chain."

Working with over 300 leading technology partners, RosettaNet is an independent consortium developing common interfaces to align the processes between supply chain partners on a global basis. An open platform based on XML and Java, InternetTONE integrates disparate business processes to efficiently manage the flow of funds, goods and information across multiple trading partners in the supply chain -- increasing visibility and process intelligence, reducing inventory levels, and improving coordination among buyers and sellers.

"By implementing RosettaNet standards, companies are able to create dynamic, flexible trading partner networks," said Jennifer Hamilton, CEO of RosettaNet. "Leveraging the global reach of the Internet, they can create new relationships as well as increase the breadth and depth of current relationships -- improving quality of business for everyone involved."

Electron Economy is currently working with several strategic partners to create Partner Interface Processes (PIP). Electron Economy expects to complete the integration by the end of the year.

 About RosettaNet
RosettaNet is an independent, self-funded, non-profit consortium dedicated to the development and deployment of standard electronic business interfaces to align the processes between supply chain partners on a global basis. More than 300 companies representing over $1 trillion in annual information technology, electronic components and semiconductor manufacturing revenues currently participate in RosettaNet's standards development, strategy and implementation activities.

Electron Economy
Electron Economy has combined advanced Internet technology and world-class supply chain expertise to pioneer the commerce-enabling technology infrastructure called InternetTONE. More than a messaging platform, InternetTONE integrates disparate business processes into one commerce flow -- managing the funds, goods and information among enterprises, exchanges and networks. In addition to lowering cost and improving cycle time, InternetTONE thinks and acts on its own by efficiently resolving supply chain complexities before they impact customers.

Electron Economy combines InternetTONE and value-added services to enable efficient supply chain execution. Specifically, its e-fulfillment solution enables enterprises to effectively manage all of the pieces behind the buy button, including trading partners, business processes, transactions and exceptions.
