Hitachi Semiconductor Implements TIBCO Software's TIB/BusinessConnect For RosettaNet

TIBCO Technology Enabling Hitachi Semiconductor and Its Partners to Respond Faster to New Business Opportunities

For Release October 11, 2000

PALO ALTO

TIBCO Software Inc. (NASDAQ:TIBX) announced today that Hitachi Semiconductor (America) Inc., a subsidiary of Hitachi America, Ltd., in turn a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT), has successfully implemented TIBCO's TIB/BusinessConnect™ for RosettaNet, enabling Hitachi to integrate its business-to-business (B2B) processes with those of its trading partners using the RosettaNet e-business standards. TIBCO's comprehensive solution is helping Hitachi Semiconductor reduce costs and streamline its supply chain processes by rapidly integrating and automating its internal business systems with those of its customers, partners and suppliers.

"The industry-wide adoption of RosettaNet e-business interoperability standards are eliminating the barriers for supply chain participation," said Viren Patel, vice president and CIO of Hitachi Semiconductor. "By using TIBCO's TIB/BusinessConnect for RosettaNet, we can now seamlessly integrate our partners -- large and small -- into our supply chain, and manage and respond to new business opportunities much faster."

Hitachi is using TIB/BusinessConnect for RosettaNet to implement a RosettaNet Partner Interface Process™ (PIP™) that will provide Hitachi and its partners, such as Avnet, with a secure web-based environment for registering, managing, tracking and collaborating on new product development opportunities. With this PIP, Hitachi and its partners can quickly respond to new business prospects and reduce the time and cost required for them to deliver new products and services to their customers.

"Integrating new partners into the supply chain has traditionally been extremely time consuming and expensive," said Fred Meyer, chief marketing officer for TIBCO Software. "TIB/BusinessConnect for RosettaNet provides an out-of-the-box solution for implementing business-to-business e-commerce using RosettaNet's e-business standards, and is helping the world's leading semiconductor companies, such as Hitachi Semiconductor, dramatically reduce the complexity of their supply chains."
