TIBCO Software Demonstrates Leadership With RosettaNet Solutions And Shows Continued Support For Milestone Programs

TIBCO’s Business Integration Solutions Make Business Faster, Easier, More Efficient, and Drive Industry Collaboration for RosettaNet e-Business Standards

For Release February 26, 2002

Palo Alto, CA --

TIBCO Software Inc. (Nasdaq: TIBX) today announced that several industry leaders such as Agere Systems, Agilent Technologies,Hitachi Semiconductor, NEC, Philips Semiconductors, and Xilinx, have implemented TIBCO solutions that support the Milestone Programs of RosettaNet, initiatives designed to solve critical issues within the high technology supply chain.   TIBCO’s alignment with RosettaNet demonstrates its continued dedication to solving critical business challenges that the high-tech, electronics and semiconductor manufacturing industries continues to face, while simultaneously enabling its customers to champion the cause of open standards for effective e-business.

In today’s Internet economy, fast, efficient, and reliable collaboration with as many trading partners and suppliers supporting wide range of business processes around the globe is essential to maintaining competitive advantage.   RosettaNet has defined over 100 Partner Interface Processes (PIPs) that cover the entire spectrum of partner interactions, including catalog distribution, inventory management and purchase order automation.   Leading companies have deployed TIBCO RosettaNet Solutions to enable core business process integration with the trading partners. Currently, TIBCO deployed solutions enable more than 50% of trading partner connections in production of Information Technology (IT) Board members, nearly half of Semiconductor Manufacturing (SM) Board companies and nearly one third of the Electronic Component (EC) Board companies--more than any other integration company delivering RosettaNet solutions.

Based on TIBCO’s industrial strength integration technology, TIBCO’s RosettaNet solutions are easy to deploy, highly scalable and interoperable, and seamlessly integrate customer’s internal processes with RosettaNet PIPs.   These features enhance collaboration, quicken time to market and enable customers to integrate new partners and business processes easily and more cost efficiently.  TIBCO’s infrastructure solutions are also the first to enable comprehensive, cross-platform Web Services for new and legacy systems, including internal application and business process integration, as well as real-time monitoring and management.   With Web Services, the next stage in standards-based communications over the Internet, companies can simplify interactions between business units, trading partners and consumer services and reduce the cost of transacting business, speed time-to-market, increase flexibility and improve efficiency.

“Streamlining business processes both internally and externally is an integral part of our worldwide e-business strategy. We needed a complete solution for enterprise application integration (EAI), B2B connectivity, and business process automation to increase the efficiency of our supply chain, which ultimately, helps us to get to market faster," said Bill Roeder, director of Worldwide eBusiness Global Sales Operations for Philips Semiconductors. "With the TIBCO solutions we are able to interface using industry standards and obtain visibility to our supply chain, enabling us to make more accurate forecasts based on real-time information. The result is improved customer service and cost savings because we are able decrease the burden on our internal resources.”

RosettaNet’s Milestone Programs focus on solving critical issues within the high technology supply chain. As a founding member of the RosettaNet Solution Provider Board, TIBCO has participated in four RosettaNet milestone programs:

RosettaNet Basics - designed to make systems integration less complex and more affordable for mid-tier trading partners

Semiconductor Manufacturing (SM) Order Management – focus on a reduction in IT and order transaction costs to improve customer service for SM industry

SM Work in Process (WIP) - achieve greater flexibility of operations due to improved visibility into supplier WIP.

SM Materials - address unique process manufacturing requirements needed to reduce IT and ordering costs and improve customer service.

In addition, TIBCO has provided software solutions to RosettaNet member companies to enable four additional milestones:

iHub - enables the exchange of common information used in daily supply chain management by identifying and standardizing a set of Partner Interface Processes (PIPs).

Design Win – standards to improve channel efficiency, automate and expedite data collection and sharing, and increase data-reporting accuracy and timeliness.

Collaborative Forecasting - Allows trading partners to improve the match between supply and demand throughout the EC and IT supply chains, resulting in significantly reduced inventory, increased product turns, and improved on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.

Order Management Japan - resolves order management issues for Japan-based companies.

”Turnkey solutions, such as the TIBCO NetworkConnector for RosettaNet, will enable companies to take advantage of business-to-business integration, without significant cost barriers to implementation. Companies of any size now have the ability to automate business processes using RosettaNet standards,” said Charles Goodwin, Intel's director of business-to-business integration and RosettaNet programs.   “This will enable companies to more quickly respond to new business prospects and reduce the time and cost required for them to deliver products and services to their customers.”

“RosettaNet is making great progress toward its goal of broad adoption and deployment of open standards for supply chain integration, and TIBCO plays no small role in helping us do that through our Milestone Program,” said Jennifer Hamilton, CEO of RosettaNet. “We hope to see more companies following TIBCO’s initiative in 2002.”

The TIBCO ActiveExchange TM product line provides business-to-business (B2B) integration solutions for enterprises of all sizes, with support for all the leading B2B standards such as RosettaNet, EDI X.12 and EDIFACT, ebXML, SOAP, chemXML, cXML and xCBL. TIBCO ActiveExchange works seamlessly with TIBCO ActiveEnterprise and TIBCO ActivePortal to provide a total business integration solutions for companies desiring to reap the benefits of implementing RosettaNet and other B2B standards.   (This paragraph may not be necessary).
