webMethods Continues Commitment To RosettaNet Milestone Programs, Driving Supply Chain Collaboration In the High Technology Manufacturing Space

Provides Cost-Effective Offering for Rapid Implementation of RosettaNet Basics

For Release March 21, 2002

Fairfax, VA --

webMethods, Inc. (Nasdaq: WEBM), a leading provider of integration software, today announced the company’s on-going support for RosettaNet production Milestone Programs.   RosettaNet, the high technology industry’s leading e-business process consortium, has driven the development and adoption of e-business initiatives such as low-cost, turnkey solutions, next generation architecture and interoperability.   Over the years, webMethods has worked closely with RosettaNet to develop marketable solutions that advance the organization’s objectives and drive customer success.

“As a part of the 2001 RosettaNet Milestones Programs, webMethods addressed the supply chain collaboration challenges facing customers in the high technology manufacturing sector,” said Rajesh Iyer, Director of Industry Solutions for webMethods.   “Using the webMethods integration platform for managing RosettaNet transactions, many of our customers have effectively automated business processes to increase visibility and cut costs across the supply chain.”

The Milestones Programs drive rapid development and deployment of RosettaNet Partner Interface Processes™ (PIPs®) to facilitate partner collaboration and drive quality results.   webMethods was directly involved or supported customer activities in five 2001 Milestone Program areas including:

·          Basics & Express – enabling the affordable adoption of RosettaNet standards for small- to medium-sized companies;

·         Product Information Exchange – standardizing the access to technical information for all phases of electronic assembly, design and manufacture;

·         Design Win – automating registration and approvals to improve the effectiveness of the Design Win process;

·         SM Order Management – allowing semiconductor manufacturers, foundries and services providers to enhance overall order processing and turn-around times;

·         SM Work in Process (WIP) – improving visibility into supplier WIP.

As part of its work with the RosettaNet Basics/Express Milestone Program, webMethods developed and released Connect Express for RosettaNet.   Connect Express is a limited-use version of the webMethods integration platform, specifically designed to meet the unique requirements of high-tech manufacturers.   This offering provides a cost-effective, easy-to-implement solution designed for companies participating in the RosettaNet Basics Program.

RosettaNet Leadership

As an early member of RosettaNet and one of the initial solution providers to join the consortium, webMethods has worked closely with the organization to improve supply chain collaboration in the high tech manufacturing industry.   Since then, webMethods has contributed to the RosettaNet Implementation Framework (RNIF) 2.0 and more than 70 companies have leveraged the webMethods integration platform to complete over 120 PIP implementations.

With customers representing ten of RosettaNet’s partner companies, including UMC, Motorola, NEC and SPIL, webMethods continues to chart the course for the widespread adoption of RosettaNet standards.
