Software Kit Helps Build RosettaNet Solutions On Intel® Architecture

For Release May 23, 2002

Santa Clara, CA, United States --

Intel Corporation today introduced the Intel® Architecture Software Development Kit for RosettaNet* (IA SDK for RosettaNet), a solution that helps developers build applications that enable small- and medium-sized companies to exchange business transactions electronically. Researched and developed by Intel, the SDK will be available through an open source license on the RosettaNet consortium Web site.

“The IA SDK for RosettaNet is designed to help developers create reusable, cost-effective RosettaNet solutions,” said Colin Evans, director of distributed systems in Intel Labs and chairman of the RosettaNet executive board. “Intel is committed to the proliferation of RosettaNet standards across the entire supply chain and the IA SDK for RosettaNet will help bring the benefits of e-Business automation that larger companies already enjoy to small- and medium-sized businesses.”& lt; /p>

“The Intel Architecture Software Development Kit for RosettaNet demonstrates Intel’s continued commitment to extend the adoption of the RosettaNet standard by developing solutions that support mid-tier players in the supply chain,” said Jennifer Hamilton, CEO of RosettaNet. “We are pleased that our members will have access to a valuable tool at no cost, and feel confident that contributions such as Intel’s software products will further enable developers to quickly bring solutions to market.”

Several features built into the IA SDK for RosettaNet make the technology easy-to-use and cost-effective for developers. Modular in design, the IA SDK includes source code that can be used by developers to create applications that work with RosettaNet standards, as well as create additional solutions for back-end data sources, additional RosettaNet Partner Interface Processes* (PIPs) and communication protocols. Developer and installation guides take developers through all of the components needed to design easy-to-use and easy-to-maintain solutions. For example, the IA SDK shows how to build a graphical user interface into an application that enables businesses to quickly create trading partner profiles or transactions. Log files and data import/export capability for common back-end business data sources such as Microsoft* Excel*, Microsoft Access* and Microsoft SQL* are also included in the RosettaNet SDK for IA.

The IA SDK for RosettaNet supports the RosettaNet Implementation Framework (RNIF) version 1.1 and Windows 2000, as well as PIPs 3A4, 3B2, 3C3, 3A7, 3C4 and 0A1. To obtain a copy of the IA SDK for RosettaNet, visit the RosettaNet Web site at www.rosettanet.org.
Intel is a leading implementer of RosettaNet standards and a founding board member of the RosettaNet consortium.
