RosettaNet Press Release
webMethods Among First to Achieve RosettaNet Interoperability Trials Success And Software Compliance

RosettaNet Program Initiatives Will Advance Software-to-Software Interoperability Capabilities to Reduce Deployment Time and Increase Adoption by High-Tech Industry

For Release February 25, 2003

Fairfax, VA

webMethods, Inc. (Nasdaq: WEBM), the leading independent provider of integration software, today announced that it is among the first RosettaNet solution providers and partners to successfully complete the RosettaNet Interoperability and RosettaNet Compliance Badge Programs. The impetus for these programs was to advance software-to-software interoperability capabilities and to speed the deployment time by companies initiating RosettaNet solutions.

Creating interoperability among RosettaNet solution providers brings a universally compatible way for connecting RosettaNet trading partners to reduce both the cost of implementation and time for deployment. Interoperable solution provider offerings will allow companies to more accurately predict project timelines and cost, which can reduce implementation time from months to days once trading partners have their RosettaNet gateway installed.

Similarly, RosettaNet Ready™ Software Compliance Badges give customers an additional layer of confidence that the solution providers are fully compliant according to published RosettaNet Implementation Framework (RNIF) 2.0 and or specific Partner Interface Processes® (PIPs®). The RosettaNet Ready Software Compliance Badge indicates that an independent compliance service provider has tested the software solution and the product has passed the tests successfully.

To date, webMethods is one of the only RosettaNet solution providers to successfully complete both the Software Interoperability Trials and Compliance Badge testing requirements, giving its customers the benefits of both programs.

“Through the participation and leadership of partners like webMethods, RosettaNet is able to advance new programs like RosettaNet Ready and Interoperability, which will drive greater adoption by companies engaged in supply chain operations,” said Jennifer Hamilton, RosettaNet CEO. “These two new consortium initiatives are aimed at helping companies greatly expand their current RosettaNet capabilities while at the same time lower costs around establishing new connections with trading partners.”

“webMethods has historically taken a strong leadership position in RosettaNet standards because supply chain integration remains one of the key initiatives for companies seeking to improve their overall operational efficiency,” said Darren Oberst, vice president and general manager, Industries and Systems Integrators, webMethods, Inc. “ webMethods supports RosettaNet’s Interoperability and RosettaNet Ready compliance programs because we believe that the benefits to our customers are significant and can be realized immediately.”
