For Release August 6, 2003

PLANTATION, FL and NEWARK, NJ

DHL today announced it has expanded its role in RosettaNet, an industry consortium dedicated to standardizing Web-enabled business processes and facilitating the exchange of information across the global supply chain.

DHL has agreed to join three of RosettaNet’s boards: The Information Technology (IT) Board, the Semiconductor Manufacturing (SM) Board and the Electronic Components (EC) Board.  As a RosettaNet board member, DHL will use its expertise as a leading logistics provider to participate in implementing standards that align e-business processes across the trading network. RosettaNet is comprised of more than 500 companies represented by multiple industries generating more than USD1trillion in annual revenues.

“The key to supply chain efficiency and trading partner success is the ability to integrate business process and business data with back-office and/or operational applications. This continues to be a key component of our customer integration strategy since our early Electronic Data Interchange implementations and now with RosettaNet," said Cindy Smith, VP Information Technology North America. Smith will represent DHL on at least one of the new board positions.

"Our expanded role in RosettaNet further demonstrates to our current and prospective customers that DHL is committed to a Web-centric, non-proprietary e-business strategy and that we will support solutions that extend beyond traditional EDI,” Smith said.

The former Danzas first became a RosettaNet Partner in 1999. Since joining, DHL has actively participated in the development of transportation and distribution standards or Partner Interface Processes®(PIPs®).Most recently, DHL is represented as a member of the leadership team driving the Direct Ship/3PL Milestone Program within RosettaNet.

“We are pleased to see this extended leadership by DHL, a key supporter of the RosettaNet initiative,” said Jennifer Hamilton, President and CEO of RosettaNet.“As one of the world’s most recognized logistics providers, DHL will enhance RosettaNet’s ongoing standards development activities that assist outsourced manufacturers in shipping directly to the customer through the use of a third-party logistics (3PL) firms.”

”RosettaNet continues to play a vital role in fostering e-business process standards and IT solutions in the high tech industry and beyond," said Steve J. Bandrowczak, Senior VP Chief Information Officer and executive sponsor at DHL. “Without a doubt, these XML-based standards have and will continue to drive velocity and cost reduction throughout the global supply chain.”
