RosettaNet Press Release
RosettaNet Appoints Vice President To Head Asia Activities

On Loan From Intel, Soohaeng Oh Brings 20 Years of Industry Experience

For Release October 4, 2000

SANTA ANA --

RosettaNet today announced the appointment of Soohaeng Oh to head RosettaNet activities in Asia, where the consortium's global supply chain standards are being embraced by leading information technology (IT), electronic component (EC) and semiconductor manufacturing (SM) companies.

Oh, director of e-Business and Internet Operations for Intel Semiconductor LTD's Asia Pacific Sales and Marketing Group, began a two-year, on-loan assignment on September 1 as RosettaNet's vice president of Asia under an agreement with Intel Corporation, which is a member of RosettaNet's global IT and EC Supply Chain Boards.

Headquartered in Hong Kong, Oh will be responsible for driving, coordinating and supporting RosettaNet efforts throughout Asia, where companies in Japan, Taiwan, Singapore and Korea are currently engaged in RosettaNet activities. Oh will also launch initiatives in additional regions in Asia -- including People's Republic of China, India, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand -- continuing RosettaNet's rapid global expansion.

"We're seeing a strong momentum developing throughout Asia, as industry-leading companies like Intel are not only supporting RosettaNet standards, but also leading the charge by dedicating valuable team members to our initiatives," said RosettaNet CEO Jennifer Hamilton. "Soohaeng brings expertise in supply chain business processes and information systems, as well as unparalleled, hands-on experience working with unique regional requirements to achieve a common goal," Hamilton said.

In addition to her role driving standards implementation, Oh will develop a channel for Asian members to participate in standards development activities. "As part of our continued effort to understand business process issues unique to regional economies, we expect to find new opportunities to strengthen our global standards to the benefit of businesses worldwide," Hamilton said.

RosettaNet has developed a global organizational structure that focuses on three regional groupings: Americas, Europe, and Asia. Regions have dedicated teams to support large-scale deployment of RosettaNet standards, identify regional business requirements, and promote continued adoption with trading partners worldwide, according to Thierry Ceillier, RosettaNet vice president of global implementation. "Soohaeng will be working closely with our regional teams to ensure that Asian requirements and activities are supported within RosettaNet's global vision, objectives and structure," Ceillier said.

In addition to existing IT and EC industry standards initiatives, RosettaNet is in the formative stages of establishing a semiconductor manufacturing initiative that will likely lead to integrated e-business processes stretching from silicon to delivery of finished goods to end users. "The geographic center of semiconductor manufacturing in Asia further emphasizes the need for a RosettaNet presence in that area," Hamilton said.

"Intel's participation in the RosettaNet initiative to date demonstrates our commitment to helping to develop the next-generation systems, infrastructure and standards-based commerce technologies that will help fuel the growth of the Internet economy," said Christian Morales, vice president and co-general manager, Intel Asia Pacific. Soohaeng's appointment reiterates Intel's commitment to enabling standards-based e-business processes in Asia, where Internet and e-business usage continues to grow exponentially."

Oh has been an Intel employee since 1979 when she joined the company in Brussels, Belgium as a finance analyst. She then moved to international sales at the corporate headquarters in Santa Clara, Calif., and served as director of customer services, planning and logistics at Intel Japan. Most recently, Oh has been responsible for Internet e-business strategies in the Asia Pacific region for Intel Semiconductor LTD, Hong Kong. Prior to joining Intel, she worked at Honda Motor Europe in Belgium.

Oh is Korean and was raised in Japan. She has earned a bachelor's of art degree and a master's degree in business administration at the Netherlands School of Business (Nijenrode) and the University of Puget Sound in Washington State.
