RosettaNet Press Release Taiwan President Featured as Distinguished Guest Speaker; Results of Intel RosettaNet Interoperability Fest Announced For Release October 16, 2001
TAIPEI , Taiwan -- Representatives of leading high technology companies from across the globe gathered today to attend the opening of the RosettaNet Global Partner Conference and eBusiness Expo hosted by RosettaNet and the Institute for Information Industry (III), respectively. The RosettaNet Partner Conference, a forum for education, training and networking among industry professionals, takes place October 16-18, at the Howard Plaza Hotel Taipei. Sponsors of RosettaNet’s Global Partner Conference in Taipei include: E2open, J.D. Edwards, Peregrine Systems, PTC, TIBCO Software and Viacore. Through a series of general sessions, workshops and breakout meetings, the RosettaNet Partner Conference facilitates the production and implementation of RosettaNet standards and enables Partner companies to identify new business opportunities and influence the direction of RosettaNet to the benefit of the industry worldwide. RosettaNet’s Taipei event features updates on the organization’s key initiatives for 2001, including milestone and foundational programs, as well as successful Partner Interface Process™ (PIP ®) implementations and emerging market opportunities. In addition, the sessions focus on global RosettaNet activity updates and topics such as interoperability, XML standards convergence and ROI. The RosettaNet Partner Conference is part of the larger eBusiness Expo sponsored by III, with overwhelming support by the Taiwan government, as well as local and international businesses. The opening ceremony featured distinguished guest speakers including Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian; Dr. F.C. Lin, President, III; and Jennifer Hamilton, CEO of RosettaNet. Other key executives representing industry leaders such as Cisco Systems, Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, E2open, J.D. Edwards, Peregrine Systems and Viacore, were also on hand to deliver speeches and participate in roundtable discussions. Immediately following the eBusiness Expo opening ceremony, members of the press were invited to hear the results of the Intel RosettaNet Interoperability Fest (IOF) held in Taiwan last month. During the IOF, 26 supply chain trading partners and 13 e-Business solution providers successfully exchanged Extensible Markup Language (XML) documents using RosettaNet e-Business standards. In all, companies participating in the technology event established 37 server-to-server connections and exchanged XML documentsusing the purchase order request and advanced shipment notification PIPs. These specifications define steps in the purchase order process between trading partners. Additionally, companies demonstrated interoperability between third party software solutions that connect businesses to their trading partners. More information about Intel and the Interoperability Fest is available at http:// www.intel.com/pressroom/. As a follow on to the Taipei conference, RosettaNet Japan will host a Partner event on October 25 at the Microsoft headquarters in Tokyo.
