RosettaNet Press Release
RosettaNet Releases Compliance Test For Most Widely Implemented E-Business Process Standard; Steps Up RosettaNet Ready™ Program By Offering New Version STK Application To Public At No Cost

GridNode First to be Awarded Software Compliance Badge

For Release September 17, 2002

Santa Ana, CA, United States of America --

RosettaNet, the high technology industry's leading e-business standards consortium, today announced the release of a new test developed to test compliance to Partner Interface Process ® (PIP ® ) 3A4.   This enhancement to the RosettaNet Ready™ offering is significant because PIP 3A4 -- Request Purchase Order -- is among the most widely implemented RosettaNet standards.    The broad industry acceptance of PIP 3A4 is demonstrated by the fact that all supply chains served by RosettaNet, including Electronic Components (EC), Information Technology (IT) and Semiconductor Manufacturing (SM), are leveraging the specification, with more than 100 partners currently in production.   In addition, PIP 3A4 is a key component for a large number of RosettaNet e-business process standards, serving as a "building block" for a variety of other PIPs.

RosettaNet also published a new version of the RosettaNet Ready Self-Test Kit (STK) application that includes a modified engine code, test script generator and user guide.    The recently released STK, available for download by partners and the public at no cost, is designed to encourage greater adoption and development of products and services for RosettaNet.   Tests offered include those measuring for adherence to the RosettaNet Implementation Framework (RNIF) v2.0 and a baseline set of PIPs.   Additional compliance tests for PIPs in the areas of product discovery and distribution, order management and inventory management are currently under development.   To further extend the consortium’s compliance activities, RosettaNet's upcoming software interoperability events will leverage available compliance testing tools.

" The growth and progress being made around RosettaNet Ready underscores the software compliance requirements that this initiative addresses for B2B in the high technology industry," said Jennifer Hamilton, CEO of RosettaNet.   "By continuing to add new compliance tests and releasing upgrades to existing tools and components, the program is becoming more robust and ever critical to solution providers who are looking to obtain RosettaNet Ready compliance badge designations for their respective software products."

The first compliance badge was recently awarded to GridNode, a leading provider of distributed supply chain enabling solutions.   The company successfully completed the rigorous testing process for PIP 4C1 (v02.02.00) administered by Drake Certivo via the RosettaNet Ready Testing Center.   GridNode’s designation as the first company worldwide to garner a RosettaNet Ready badge for its GridTalk (v1.3.9)solution was achieved through ongoing product refinement, as required by the program's stringent compliance measurement guidelines.

"Compliance badges awarded by RosettaNet provide instant marketplace recognition for RosettaNet Partners and represent an endorsement of software compliance to the standard, a mark that helps supply chain companies differentiate between solutions being offered ," said Jennifer Hamilton, CEO of RosettaNet.   " By design, the RosettaNet compliance testing process is challenging, thereby ensuring quality products and solutions in the marketplace.  We are pleased to recognize GridNode for their commitment, diligence and success in being the first to achieve this status ."

"Our customers lead in their respective industries because of their drive to meet and exceed open industry standards. Similarly, earning RosettaNet's first compliance badge demonstrates our dedication to lead in the area of software solutions excellence," said Chee-Tong Leow, Managing Director of GridNode. "We hope that this progressive compliance effort will rally the industry towards greater interoperability among solution providers, and eventually help our customers achieve greater cost efficiencies while extending their trading partner networks."

Launched in March 2002, the RosettaNet Ready Program is building steady momentum with a growing roster of committed subscribers, including GridNode, i2 Technologies, IONA Technologies, J.D. Edwards, Peregrine Systems, Perwill, PTC, Sterling Commerce, TIBCO Software, Vitria Technology and webMethods.
