RosettaNet Press Release For Release January 29, 2003
PENANG, Malaysia --
RosettaNet, the high technology industry’s premiere e-business process consortium, today announced the appointment of KE K’ng as Director of RosettaNet Malaysia. In this highly visible role, Mr K’ng will lead regional activities associated with the adoption and implementation of RosettaNet standards by local and foreign MNC and SME companies operating in Malaysia. Specifically, he will work closely with targeted business communities and governmental agencies in an effort to drive supply chain efficiency via RosettaNet XML-based process standards, thereby enhancing Malaysia’s overall competitiveness.
A Strategic Programs Director on-loan from Dell Asia Pacific, K’ng has more than 20 years of professional experience in the electronics manufacturing industry where he has held positions in the areas of engineering, production, quality assurance, training and business unit management . Prior to his tenure at Dell, K’ng worked for industry-leading companies such as Hitachi, Hewlett-Packard and Sony.
“On behalf of the RosettaNet worldwide consortium, I am pleased to welcome KE K’ng to RosettaNet and wish him great success in continuing the wonderful progress being made in Malaysia,” said Jennifer Hamilton, CEO of RosettaNet. I would also like to acknowledge our valued RosettaNet Partner, Dell Asia Pacific, for their demonstrated commitment in sponsoring this critical on-loan position.”
RosettaNet Malaysia, launched in January 2002, has received overwhelming support from the Malaysian government, as well as industry representatives and various trade associations including Frepenca (Free Industrial Zone Association) and FMM (Federation of Malaysia Manufacturers). In less than a year, the affiliate has made tremendous progress with several key accomplishments, particularly in the areas of standards development where the RosettaNet Malaysia Engineering team is now fully on-line to provide global support for Partner Interface Process ® (PIP ®) development and Next Generation Architecture. In addition, RosettaNet Malaysia is driving two local activities, including the vertical and horizontal integration of the supply chain via RosettaNet’s eLogistics program. The eLogistics initiative, which aims to automate the customs declaration process, is a significant endeavor for RosettaNet as it is the first instance where a government entity has participated in direct implementation of RosettaNet standards.
“RosettaNet grants have traditionally been created through the support of MITI (Ministry of International Trade and Industry) – an agency whose goal is to provide financial assistance to Malaysian-based supply chain companies that choose to implement RosettaNet,” noted SY Foong, RosettaNet VP of Asia. “With the foundation firmly established, Malaysia is poised to ramp deployment and implementations in 2003.”
About RosettaNet RosettaNet is an independent, non-profit consortium dedicated to the collaborative development and rapid deployment of open internet-based business standards that align processes within the global high technology trading network. More than 450 companies, representing over US$ 1 trillion in annual information technology, electronic components and semiconductor manufacturing revenues, currently participate in RosettaNet’s standards development, strategy and implementation activities.
