RosettaNet e-Business Standards Consortium Opens 2003 Global Partner Conference at Renaissance Hotel in Kuala Lumpur

VIP Keynote Addresses by Penang Chief Minister and RosettaNet CEO; Program Also Features Executive Speakers from Industry Leading Companies

For Release March 6, 2003

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia

RosettaNet, the high technology industry’s leading e-business process standards consortium,
kicked off its annual Global Partner Conference today with keynote speeches by Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, Penang Chief Minister, and Ms Jennifer Hamilton, RosettaNet CEO.   Attendees gathered from around the world to obtain insights and updates on successful e-business initiatives and implementations by RosettaNet member companies.   Executives from Founder, GridNode, Global eXchange Services, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, NEC, Nokia, Samsung, Seagate, Sony, STMicroelectronics and Tatung provided first hand knowledge and expertise on how to gain substantial direct and indirect benefits from the deployment of RosettaNet standards within a trading partner network.

“We are extremely proud to hold our 2003 Global Partner Conference in Malaysia as it symbolizes the tremendous acceptance and support realized throughout Asia in recent months,” said Jennifer Hamilton, RosettaNet CEO.   “The RosettaNet consortium, in celebrating its fifth year of operation, has continued to demonstrate remarkable adoption and implementations on a global basis, signaling its continued success and future growth in the industry.   This year, RosettaNet Partner connections yielded a three-fold increase worldwide, with the community moving into new e-business areas such as product traceability, finance and logistics.”

In addition to a comprehensive event agenda with regional updates, including the Americas, Asia and Europe, the program featured an Interoperability Festival (IOF), testing the ability of Application Solution Providers (ASPs) to share link their solutions using RosettaNet standards.   The RosettaNet community has extensive experience in the area of compliance and interoperability testing, with the RosettaNet Ready
ä program, the recent Software Interoperability Trials and several supplier-based Interoperability Festivals, including both trading partners and solution providers.   This event is significant in that it demonstrates ASP solutions that are compliant, as well as interoperable within and across RosettaNet standard solutions.   The IOF event also provided a venue to test a prototype of the eLogistics implementation, which makes full use of the ASP model.

“A significant number of RosettaNet users view the Application Solution Provider (ASP) model as a facilitator to the next wave of RosettaNet implementations,” noted SY Foong, RosettaNet Vice President, Asia.   “We are pleased to host this RosettaNet-sponsored Interoperability Festival (IOF) in Asia, where commitment to adoption and deployment of the RosettaNet standard has demonstrated strong support from the high tech community and local government.”
