SANTA ANA, CA
RosettaNet, the industry’s leading e-business process standards consortium, today
announced that Bill White has been appointed chairman of the RosettaNet Executive Board.
In this role, White will provide oversight and leadership to
RosettaNet’s Managing Boards, including Electronic Components (EC), Information Technology (IT),
Semiconductor Manufacturing (SM) and Solution Provider (SP), as well as the consortium’s new
Telecommunications Industry Council (TC).
"The role of chairman is both strategic and operational in nature and brings with it a
significant professional challenge and opportunity," said Jennifer Hamilton, president and CEO of
RosettaNet.
“I am pleased that Bill has been appointed to this position and am
confident that his extraordinary insights, ongoing leadership and contributions will further
enhance the success achieved by the consortium to date.”
White brings more than 35 years of industry experience to his new position at RosettaNet.
Currently, White serves as CIO and senior vice president ICS of Amkor
Technology, Inc., the world's largest provider of contract semiconductor assembly and test
services, where he
directs Amkor’s worldwide information technology infrastructure
operations, software applications management and the supply chain electronic commerce initiatives.
His background in information technology (IT), specifically in
the automotive, aerospace, healthcare, computer services and semiconductors industries provides
RosettaNet with added domain expertise that will become increasingly valuable as the consortium
continues to grow and evolve.
Prior to joining Amkor, White held various senior level positions at General Motors,
Electronic Data Systems, Boeing/MDC, Rockwell and Borg Warner.
A graduate of Western Iowa, White obtained a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
During the past year, White served as chairman of RosettaNet’s SM Board, where he helped
drive Milestone Program standards initiatives related to the automation of key business processes
in manufacturing work-in-process (WIP), purchase order and work order management and materials
management areas.
“RosettaNet’s tremendous value is based upon the fact that the standards are clearly business
driven,” said Bill White, executive board chairman, RosettaNet.
“Given RosettaNet's agility it has the ability to respond quickly and
efficiently to the industry’s business demands and requirements.
I look forward to representing RosettaNet as chairman over the next
few years and working with key executives of the Uniform Code Council (UCC), during which time I
expect to see extended growth and collaboration across the board.”
In his role White will work closely with RosettaNet’s CEO, board members and senior staff on
all strategic matters, including the identification and support of convergence opportunities in the
industry, as well as target new markets by enabling the transfer of knowledge and best practices to
adjacent vertical industries and beyond.
White will also act as a RosettaNet spokesperson and establish a strong outreach initiative
aimed at the high technology and telecommunications industries in an effort to promote broader
awareness and adoption of RosettaNet standards worldwide.
A key area of focus will be the acceleration of production
implementations across the global trading network.
“
Bill is an aggressive driver for implementation of RosettaNet standards at Amkor,”
said John Boruch, Amkor’s president and chief operating officer.
“The volume of electronic communications is doubling every two years,
and our customers and suppliers are moving from a model of daily communications to hourly
communications. With the adoption of RosettaNet standards, Amkor is meeting the demand for
accurate and timely reporting of product and production information, which improves the
forecast-to-cash business cycle.”
