BUSINESS PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED

Logistics requires an Shipment Notification (SN) to facilitate the handling and movement of goods. To fully support the requirements of both procurement and logistics processes, the SN must:

–         Accommodate the difference between partners involved in the movement and partners involved in the business transaction

–         Support the involvement of one to many partners in the transaction

–         Allow flexibility in the structure to support multiple industry business models with reference to Shipment, Package, Item, Order

–         Support single and multi-leg shipments

–         Support single and multi-stop shipments

MILESTONE OBJECTIVE

Create a Shipment Notification (SN) that supports Logistics requirements, which include multiple transaction parties and support for multi-leg, multi-stop shipments.

EXPECTED BENEFITS

•           Ability to tie track & trace ability to the lowest detail

•           3B2 is the most widely use PIP for shipment notification . It is lacking critical logistics information such as names & parties.

•           Add those logistics requirements  to provide common message used by logistics providers for complete end-to-end Supply Chain processes.

•          Shippers and Receivers - duplication of messaging effort by Logistics will be eliminated.

•          Transportation Service Providers - will save substantial implementation time, message processing time, costs and maintenance by providing a single instance of a message for Logistics
