Case for action and description of the current e-business process situation.
Current E-Business Situation
Accounts Receivable Processing
Currently, accounts receivable reconciliation is an error prone and time consuming
process. Studies on Accounts Payable indicate each payable invoice typically costs $25-$50
USD to process manually. Logically Accounts Receivable process must be even more
costly.
Payment Information Flow
Currently, incoming money can normally only be acted on at best the day after
receipt. There is little changes to predict when the money will come. This means that
money is sitting idle in the backing system from a corporate view. Trading partners need to
enable reliable visibility of incoming funds and nuanced certainty.
Current manual reconciliation means that it can take up to 3-5 days
to apply funds received with corporate systems, potentially impacting a customer's
approved credit limit, and thus delaying further sales. Compared to the moment when the
customer's payment order first hits a bank this can mean delays of up to 5-7 days (calculating
conservatively).
Smaller trading partners can benefit significantly with
improved information flow, as they typically do not receive the same premium
services and favorable banking fees as
the larger trading partners are able to secure.
