Supply Chain Roles

Description of the supply chain roles involved in this e-business process.

Primary Supply Chain Roles

Buyers & Distributors

The buyer requires immediate information on product availability in response to a customers’ request, often while on the phone

Sellers & Suppliers

The seller has product in their core system needs to make inventory available on demand. Accessing supplier websites is labor intensive and inefficient for a distributor who has a large number of franchised lines. Phone and fax inquiries could take up to two days for a response.

Important Stakeholders

These are the additional groups and roles that should be considered in the requirements development and implementation phases of the Program.  These stakeholders are needed at the specification design, and implementation phases.

  • Buyer/Distributor – servicing a customer.
  • Seller/Supplier – providing inventory to distributor.
  • Customer – requires immediate inventory availability and logistics services to support spot or line down situations.
