The Product Information
Exchange program standardized the access to technical information for all phases of
electronic assembly, design and manufacture.
As a key component of this program, RosettaNet seeks to enhance PIP 2A9 with essential functions
defined by milestone Partners to improve design and supply chain efficiency and provide resulting
cost savings. The program seeks to reduce analysis and selection time by 50% and risk
assessment time by 75% or more. Design costs for suppliers and OEMs can be reduced by
automating product information acquisition processes, improving product selection efficiency,
eliminating manual data collection/conversion processes, and improving accuracy and timeliness of
product information.
Program Partners Participants include Agilent, IBM, Lucent Technologies, Mitsubishi, NEC, OKI,
STMicroelectronics, Toshiba, and Texas Instruments.
2001 Program Achievements
Eighteen Partners implemented PIPs as part of this program and
achieved 26 total connections with PIP 2A9.
