Semiconductor Manufacturing
The Semiconductor Manufacturing Program concentrated on process implementations support Materials Management, Order Management and WIP Management.

Focus Process Teams (FPTs), comprised of members of RosettaNet's global SM Supply Chain Board, are evaluating RosettaNet standards for applicability to the SM trading network; proposing enhancements or new standards, if necessary; and driving the implementation and validation of standards within the SM industry. Board Members have initiated internal teams to drive standards implementation in their companies, creating e-business plans, including trading partner and PIP selection, and setting up internal systems for RosettaNet standards.

Materials Management

RosettaNet SM Materials companies reviewed Partner Interface Processes™ (PIPs) to address unique process manufacturing requirements, looking to reduce IT and ordering costs and improve customer service.

Program Participants
Participants include JSR, Shin-Etsu Hondoutai, Shinko, Sumitomo Bakelite, Sumitomo Metal Industries SITIX, TOK and Toppan, and their customers, such as Amkor Technology, Intel, NEC and Toshiba.

2001 Program Achievements
This program was able to verify, in principle, that RosettaNet standards are adoptable to SM material procurement. Through the validation process, 10 program partners have made 30 total connections and have implemented five PIPs.

Order Management

Semiconductor manufacturers, foundries and service providers are collaborating to address the unique order-management needs of the SM trading network, expecting to reduce IT and order transaction costs and improve customer service.

Program Participants
Participants include Agilent Technologies, ASE, Intel, Micron, NEC, SPIL, Texas Instruments, TSMC, UMC and Winbond Electronics

2001 Program Achievements

More than 17 Board Member companies have implemented at least one Order Management (3A) Partner Interface Process™ (PIP®) with at least one trading partner. More than 48 connections were made via this program.

WIP Management

Automation of inquiries and responses for work-in-process (WIP) on the manufacturing factory floor will enable better WIP visibility -- reducing inventories and allowing for more flexible operations.

Program Participants
Program participants include Amkor Technology, ASE, IBM, Lucent Technologies, Motorola, National Semiconductor, SPIL, TSMC, UMC, Winbond Electronics and Xilinx.  RosettaNet solution providers BEA Systems, Peregrine/Extricity and webMethods also are collaborating on the implementation milestone.

2001 Program Achievements
Approximately nine members of RosettaNet's global SM Supply Chain Board committed to production implementation of the Manufacturing PIPs with at least one partner. This goal of getting nine companies into production was not only achieved, it was surpassed, with a total of 10 companies reaching implementation. Fourteen total connections were made via this program.
