Case for Action
The originators of the data (FABS) are being
requested to send test data in various formats to foundry customers and business partners.
Extracting this data and then formatting the data in a different way depending on who the recipient
is creates overhead, delays the sending of the information, increases the time to publish the
information and often requires manual intervention thus leading to errors.
The data is complex and manual intervention can not be handled by IT
departments thus frequently requiring high salary design/characterization engineering resources.
Recipients of the information spend unnecessary time to prepare to receive data from
the many partners such that it is able to flow into their databases.
These databases are used by design and development engineers to run complex
statistical manipulations required for design verification and improvements.
Current E-Business Environment
Ø
Delivery of business critical test data to customers is not currently
completed in either a timely fashion or in a format that enables efficient use.
In today’s business to business (B2B) environment, test data is transmitted in
proprietary formats by various transmission mechanisms including FTP, email, or fax.
Ø
Transmission of incomplete test data may result in the partner’s data
analysis package not accurately interpreting findings and create ineffective corrective actions
with longer development times
Ø
Untimely delivery of SM test data will slow the analytical response
necessary to understand emerging design issues
Ø
The lack of a global standard to transmit this information creates
system infrastructure headaches with slow response times combined with inefficient backend
