Current issues in the ebusiness process and expected benefit from resolving those
issues.
1.
Business Challenge -
The assignment tracking numbers, e.g. HAWBs, order numbers, MAWB etc… to shipments is performed
manually by distribution centers. The process encompasses multiple manual steps to give
transportation providers visibility to outbound shipments and record tracking numbers onto internal
systems. The process requires headcount to manage daily tracking number assignments and
logistics/transportation provider communication. The manual entry of tracking
numbers also creates data quality risks.
2.
Value Proposition -
Eliminate manual entry of data from one proprietary system to another. The automation of this
data exchange will:
Reduce headcount
Improve data quality for Shippers and Logistic/Transportation Providers
Increase efficiencies
Provide more timely data/information/updates
3.
Value by Supply Chain Role -
Logistics Provider – Improved data quality, pre-warning of what’s coming, increased
visibility
Shipper – Reduced Headcount/ increased data quality
Transportation Provider – Increased visibility of shipment enables better management of
space/capacity.
